Transgenders

This page is devoted to the T in LGBT, as transgenders often find themselves too many times left out of the discussion—and unincluded in protective legislation, such as Delaware's hate-crimes or antidiscrimination laws. •The Human Rights Campaign has a resource for transgenders and their loved ones designed to help work through the issues surrounding disclosure or coming out in realistic and practical terms. Access the Transgender Visibility Guide.

•The Human Rights Campaign has also created a resource on transgenderism and the social and legal challenges transgenders face, such as finding and keeping jobs, locating housing and using public accommodations, staying safe in their homes and communities, obtaining critical health care, securing legal documents consistent with their gender identity, having their relationships respected and protected, raising their children, safely attending school, and being treated fairly and humanely in the criminal justice system.
